Treat these as the order of magnitude rather than a tariff table: they vary between operators, between seasons, and with the exact address inside the resort. Chania, at the far west of the island, is a two-hour drive and priced accordingly — for that distance a pre-booked transfer or the KTEL coach usually makes more sense than a taxi.

A quoted fixed price normally includes tolls, luggage handling and a reasonable wait if your flight is late. Confirm that before you set off, and confirm whether the price is per car or per person — for a family of four it is per car, which often makes a taxi cheaper than four coach tickets.

Taxi, transfer or bus?

Each wins in a different situation:

Taxi — best for the city, the port and nearby resorts, and whenever you land without a plan. No booking, no waiting for a scheduled departure.

HER handles flights well past midnight in summer, and taxis meet them. After 00:00 the night tariff applies, so a city trip costs a few euros more than the same ride in daylight.
